Drinking water – PHREEQCI + Excel

In Lab 1 the “Graphical user interface” PHREEQCI is used to calculate the composition of a few solutions, whereafter the basics of “PHREEQC in Excel” is explained.
First PHREEQCI is used to calculate the composition of “pure water” (default solution) for which the general setup of the PHREEQC output is presented. Afterwards PHREEQCI is used to check a laboratorium report of drinking water.
The same water is used for a simular calculation in Excel using the PHREEQC COM module. The general setup of such Excel calculation is discussed. The Excel file is used to find the cause of the ionic unbalance in the laboratorium report.
Finally an Excel file is used to calculate the composition of water obtained by mixing 2 different waters (hard and soft water).
